Biography

Dušan D. Petrović

Painter of time, space and emotion

Dušan D. Petrović — painter, member of ULUS

Born in 1963, Dušan D. Petrović belongs to a generation of artists who fused classical painterly heritage with bold exploration of form and expression. He graduated in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 1990, and three years later earned his postgraduate degree at the same faculty within the University of Arts in Belgrade.

His opus is deeply rooted in visual storytelling — canvases become windows into inner worlds where the real and the surreal meet in a singular dialogue of colour, line and motion. For his exceptional painterly work he was awarded the prestigious recognition from the fund of academic painter Miodrag Janjušević, as well as the October Award of the City of Belgrade for artistic creativity of young artists.

As a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS), Petrović has exhibited at numerous solo and group exhibitions in Belgrade, Gornji Milanovac, Brussels, Paris and Basel. His works have been part of the October Salon, the Belgrade Biennial of Drawing, and many prestigious collective art exhibits.

His art is not only on display in galleries — it is also educational. From 2004 to 2011 he was an assistant professor at the Faculty of Design at Union University in Belgrade, teaching the visual foundations of design. Since 2021 he has been teaching at the Academy of Classical Painting of MB University, passing his knowledge on to new generations of artists.

Petrović's canvases are not merely images of reality — they are its reflection through the prism of emotion, philosophy and a subtle play of light and shadow. His work is not just observation; it is a dialogue with what lies beneath the surface.
